BeWare! Did not report settlement and payment as promised.

I called to make payment. I was offered a settlement amount and because this is new to me, I wasn't expecting to pay a lesser amount. I was overjoyed that my amount went from about $600 to $350. "CSR" who commented and even seemed tickled over our names being the same, explained that this amount would be considered payment in full and to allow 30 days to receive a letter to this effect and credit report to be updated. If after 30 days, I hadn't received the letter, please feel free to phone her. Today is 40 days and I have yet to see any confirmation aside from the prompt withdrawal of funds from my checking. In fact, I pulled my credit report and now it shows "open collection account" as opposed to closed with an original balance of $590 and a now past due amount of $241, updated this month 3/2008. Now, after a less than kind and even hostile conversation by CSR (opposite of when she so graciously took my money), I am being given the runaround and at best, looking for another 60 days of limbo before my account will show "paid". And... this is if I choose to believe what they say. Today I spoke with 3 representatives of Active Credit and 1 from Palisades. Lotsa of finger pointing and withdrawals of every promise made.
Long story short, do not believe them. I feel as though this is at the very least a highly fraudulent action by Palisades Collection as well as their collector agency "Active Credit Services" who CSR works for.
I did ask both entities if the calls are recorded which they are so anyone out there who has the same experience, along with money, time and patience hopefully will take action.
I am in tears and feel my palpitations could collapse me as the frustration grows.
Lastly, nothing has been resolved except that a forgotten charge-off to my credit is now active.
Should I have paid, the amount in full, which was my initial intention, then maybe (but probably not) would I have had better results.

Never agree to any settlements or payments verbally!!!! send a certified letter...return receipt and clearly state the amount you agree to pay and that they have 30 days after receiving payment to update your credit reports as paid in full and demand that they do not sell or transfer any remaining balance to a different collection agency!

My nephew had his SS# stolen, it was used by another, to open phone #'s andbusiness's. He found this out 3 years later when Pallisades called him. Mind you he was 19 and still living with mom & dad at the time of this call. We fought Pallisades, and they just kept saying just pay the bill and they will correct his credit. Well, we found out all the pertinent info we needed from the telephone co. It turned out that this older man own this house of which his son lived in. The phone # in my nephews name traced to that house. This older gentlman said he had gone to phone company and fought them for a $400 telephone bill, saying it was not theirs. So 3 years later they call my nephew. They had his wrong name but his correct SS#. We also fought it, and we won. Well we submitted paperwork to this pallisades co. They stated they would clear it up and send a letter to my nephew showing he is not responsible. Got the run around when it wasn't rec;d. You see they sell these accounts to other collection companies. Just order your credit bureau and dispute the charge as not yours or paid in full please remove. You will get it removed. or closed and paid in full.

WAHHHHH....
If all of you deadbeats paid your bills, and quit worrying about ways to get deals, make bad credit (that you earned) go away, the world would be a better place. If you dont want to deal with bill collectors, only you can prevent that. PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME...

I have the same problem with Palisades. I have an AT&T account that has been reported on my credit report by four different collectors. I settled with a company called Cavalry portfolio services and my report still has all four companies on there and Palisades has just reported again this month. What the *** can we do to get these companies in check. If anyone has any advice, please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I have had the same experience with the same company. I had a bill with AT&T that rolled over to Pallisades Collection. They called me regarding one of the two phones I had. I paid one off and the other was for a friend (who no longer is one). The second bill came to me and they began to harass me. In the long tedious phone calls I had settled and agreed to a $400 payment for a $800+ bill. The CSR had acknowledged the payment and stated it would be cleared. The money came out but the bill was never paid. I only noticed because the bill was for 2-2005 and it was last repoprted on my credit report 1-2008. They continue to harass my credit. I wonder who got the first $400 I settled for and when they called again I agreed again to pay the remainder. The bank had a credit watch on my account and they had stopped the payment and saved me another loss. Pallisades is a ripoff and I need to find an address to begin my crusade of bringing them out in the open and taking them to court to clear my credit.
